Monthly Park Clean-Ups
We wash down of the park every month, usually on the first Saturday of the month, unless there is a holiday that weekend (Independence Day and Labor Day are almost always the first weekend of the month, so we do the wash-down on the second weekend. Sometimes New Year's Day is a weekend holiday, so we postpone that clean-up.
The park is open during the wash-down, but we do wash all the chairs, benches, the gates, boulders, bowls and buckets, the water fountain, and all the posts holding up shade structures, bulletin boards, and the solar light. We're usually done in about 45 minutes.
We can always use help, and we always have iced bottled water and some treats for our volunteers.
The City sprays the main section of the park every other Thursday during the "warmer" months (roughly March through October). They use a solution that includes Dawn dish soap, which gets sprayed about 5 feet high from a medium sized-tank hauled by an ATV. Advance notice is usually posted on the gates and on our Facebook page, Dog Parkers: facebook.com/groups/lcdogparkers.
Don't be surprised or angry with the truck, and please stay out of the main section of the park while the truck is working and the truck gate is open. They are usually done before 8:00 a.m.
